20th ANNUAL "A MOUNTAIN QUILTFEST" AT LECONTE CENTER IN PIGEON FORGE

A Mountain Quiltfest in Pigeon Forge, TN

Preservation. Quilting. The two go hand-in-hand and are brought together in the 20th Annual A Mountain Quiltfest from March 19-22, 2014, at the LeConte Center in Pigeon Forge.
The Quiltfest provides experiences for the professional quilter as well as the novice, and gives our Smoky Mountain visitors an opportunity to see the area's finest quilt and meet the makers of those quilts. The event is open to the public 9am-6pm on March 19th & 20th, 9am-5pm on the 21st and 9am-4pm on the 22nd.
Visitors can browse dozens of booths where quilters show-off their work and vendors sell supplies from fabric and thread to patterns and equipment. Local quilters and guild members narrate special bed turnings of antique quilts giving the history behind the quilts and patterns. And Sandra Palmer, an AQS certified AQS appraiser, will be doing on-site quilt appraisals, so bring Granny's quilt for a professional opinion.
There area also Show-and-Tell events, lectures, over 60 quilting classes, and a Dinner Social. (Some events require registration and a fee.)
Quilters can compete in the show for over $20,000 cash and prizes, after reviewing the 10 categories filling out the quilt show entry form and paying a $10 per quilt fee for each submission to be critiqued by the NQS-certified judge.
A Mountain Quiltfest is one of the many events produced by the Special Events Department of the City of Pigeon Forge, and is hosted by the Piecemakers and Sevier Valley Quilters Guilds. For info on things to do in the Great Smoky Mountains click http://bestreadguidesmokymountains.com/.
