Smoky Mountain Alpine Coaster

When you visit Pigeon Forge, Tennessee in the Great Smoky Mountains, be sure and take a ride on the original Smoky Mountain Alpine Coaster. This is the longest downhill ride in the USA and it is worth the ride.
Outdoor Attraction in the Smokies

Family fun in Pigeon Forge
Your journey begins at the bottom of the hill when you step into a bobsled-like coaster that is mounted on set of rails. You can ride single or double and your coaster carries you up to the top of the hill. There gravity takes over and you 'ride the hill and feel the thrill' down a mile long track. If you ride full out you can hit speeds up to 27 miles per hour! Or you can have a more controlled ride using the dual hand brakes. Either way, it is an enjoyable ride and you will be lining up to ride the Coaster again and again.

People who have  ridden the Coaster rave about it: "My husband and I rode together in one cart and it went SO FAST! We laughed the entire way down. Ha ha ha ha, it was great! Rode it twice during the day then went back and rode it again at night (they light up the track). It was a lot of fun."..."Excellent, excellent, excellent ride! Loved every second of it."..."Such an AWESOME ride! Well worth the money and you get a discount if you go again on the same day! My 5 year old LOVED it just as much as we did!! We will be back!!" And you can ride the coaster at night when they light up the track! The Smoky Mountain Alpine Coaster is located on Wears Valley Road, 1.4 miles from the Pigeon Forge Parkway and Light #3.

Spirits Trail of the Smokies Attraction

One of the fun and interesting new things for adults to do in the Tennessee Smokies is to follow the Spirits Trail of the Smokies. This is an unofficial trail of distilleries, moonshine retailers and homemade wine producers in Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, Sevierville and Kodak, TN.
Moonshine in Pigeon ForgeWinery in the Smokies
If you are just coming into the Smokies off of I-40, you can hit two of the participants on the Spirits Trail right away. Thunder Road Distillery sits on the northwest corner of I-40 and Exit 407 and features several flavors of moonshine, free tastings and great merchandise for souvenirs. Eagle Springs Winery sits on the southwest corner of the same interchange and offers wines made from local grapes and honey. Have a free tasting and get a free glass with each purchase.

Next stop, Pigeon Forge, where you can visit no fewer than three locations on the Spirits Trail. The Old Forge Distillery is located next to the historic Old Mill Restaurant and General Store, and features their signature 1830 Original Distillers Blend Moonshine, plus six additional flavors. Their gift shop features homemade knives which you can see being hand forged next door.

Original moonshine in TennesseeHome made wine in GatlinburgIn The Island you will find Bootleggers Homemade Wine and Ole Smoky Moonshine. At Bootleggers you can sample from 11 different Tennessee wines including Scuppernong, Blackberry and Muscadine. Ole Smoky Moonshine is the original moonshine company in the Smokies and they offer 24 flavors of moonshine and live music on the porch.

If you make your way to Gatlinburg you can enjoy moonshine, wine and whiskey in five different Spirits Trail locations. Bootleggers and Ole Smoky Moonshine have their original locations in Gatlinburg, and there is also Sugarlands Distilling Co., Doc Collier Moonshine and Davy Crockett Tennessee Whiskey.

Corn and cane are the primary ingredients of Sugarlands 100 Proof Silver Cloud Moonshine, but this is just one of the 9 flavors of shine offered at Sugarlands Distilling Co.. You can also enjoy live music at the Back Porch concert Series.

Simple is best was what Doc Collier used to say, and that is the philosophy behind their 12 different moonshines. Only corn, sugar, English Mountain Spring water and fresh fruit and ingredients go into Doc Colliers. By a bottle and pick yourself up something purty from Doc's Shine Shop.

Davy Crockett was a famous Tennessean and now his name graces the label of a genuine, white oak barreled, full flavored, sugar maple dripped whiskey named Davy Crocketts Tennessee Whiskey. You can sip the original or 5 other flavors of locally made whiskey right off the Parkway in Gatlinburg, in sight of the Great Smoky Mountains of Tennessee, an area where ole Davy himself once roamed.

Pick up a copy of the Spirits Trail of the Smokies in book and brochure racks throughout the Tennessee Smokies or at the central and east Tennessee Official State Welcome Centers. Then come to the Smokies and hit the trail yourself. Take home a bottle or two, some moonshine, wine or whiskey glasses and some local souvenirs for good sippin' memories for you and your friends.

Fireworks Supermarket Smoky Mountains

If you are looking to start off your summer with a bang! and a boom! and a Ka-bam!...then go to Fireworks Supermarket in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee to load up on fireworks fun and excitement. (They are located right off of I-40 at Exit 407, The Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, Sevierville exit to the Smoky Mountains.)

Shopping for fireworks in Pigeon ForgeMy family has been buying fireworks for years from Fireworks Supermarket and we always get great service, great advice and great fireworks for our holiday celebrations. Over the years the Fireworks Supermarket crew has helped us refine and change our shows, introducing new ideas and new displays to continue to "wow" our friends and family.

For example, we start off with sparklers, Roman Candles and firecrackers as twilight falls. Watching children play with the safe sparklers, under the watchful eyes of their parents, always gets people in the mood and the "Whoop", "Whoop" of the Roman Candles shooting into the darkening night prepares the crowd to look to the sky for more action.

Buy fireworks on your way to GatlinburgFirework shopping in the Great Smoky MountainsLighting the fountains sets the stage for high-powered action of the multi-effect aerials and other multi-effect products like "Big Bad & Loud" and "Loud and Rowdy".  We don't shoot off all of our big guns at once, but space them out with Reloadables and Missiles. Reloadables are mortar-like products that fire into the air with a resounding "Whoop!" then                                                       explode into lights, flares, crackles and more noise.

Tennessee Kicker fireworks fun
After 45-50 minutes of adrenaline-pounding, earth-shaking excitement, we allow the noise and smoke to die-down, and just when people start to get out of their chairs, we hit them with the finale - a hair-raising, mind-blowing display of beautiful lights, colors, explosions and awe-inspiring fireworks excitement that will be remembered long after the smoke clears. We blow their minds!

And after all, isn't that the effect you are looking for?
